Resources to Help You In Your Caregiving Journey

Finding the right care for an aging parent or loved one can be overwhelming—especially when you don’t know where to begin. Our free Columbia & Lexington Senior Care Resource Guide was created to give families a practical starting point. It explains common terms such as ADLs and IADLs, provides local contacts for non-medical home care, private-duty caregivers, assisted living and memory care, and offers questions families should ask when interviewing caregivers or touring senior living communities. It also explains how assessments and levels of care can affect both placement and cost.

The guide also helps families explore resources that may help pay for care. You’ll find information about Medicare and Medicare Advantage, VA Pension and Aid & Attendance, South Carolina Medicaid and the Community Choices Waiver, long-term care insurance, the South Carolina Department on Aging, GetCareSC and other community resources. Because programs, providers, pricing and eligibility requirements can change, the guide is intended as a starting point—and we’ll continue updating it as new information and resources become available.
